It is Thursday, June 23rd here. That means I will be heading off to debrief in 12 days (to the hour, actually. It’s about 11:45am here now and our plane leaves at 11:50am) and getting on my flight home in 16. I go storying today, then some shopping with Em, then our last real weekend here begins. I have nothing that HAS to be done until Sunday except writing some skits for VBS next week (we’re doing a superhero theme, so Pr*yer Woman and B*ble Girl will be back for another week of educational fun!) We have a volunteer coming next week who will teach english and crafts all 3 days that she’s here, which is wonderful. All I have left is d*scipleship on Monday, Free School on Wednesday, a possible weekend trip to the beach (the longest unbroken beach in the world!) and then 2 days at the Center where I’ll teach rug making and go story one last time. Then debrief.
Let me say that again. Storying twice, d*scipleship once, 4 short skits, one more free school, and a weekend trip. Then I leave.
Crazy, no?
I want to go on and on about all the things I’m going to miss about my second life here in SA, but I’ll break it up into several blogs. Today, I just want to say that I will miss it. A lot. I love it here.
Pr*y for us to finish strong. There’s only a few things left, but I want to do them well. We have a couple unscheduled things to do that I’m working on spacing out so I don’t overwhelm myself, like finishing the english curriculum for the Center to follow until December (some people obviously missed Em and I’s blogs about how clueless we are when it comes to teaching, because they have the idea that we’re experts on it now, and we’re not… haha) and designing henna to go with the stories in our storying curriculum so that the fall volunteers can bring henna into the mix more often. It’s quite fun, actually.
Love you guys.
